T he World Premiere of GRUeSOMe The Musical took to the stage in October 2023 at The Repertory Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent with an amazingly talented cast and band of musicians. The show received a standing ovation for every performance and rave reviews both locally and further afield. With music based on the 2008 album Berner Street by Tony Mckenzie and Alan Bruce reimagined and expanded to create a conduit to a point in time where the past links to the present, this new and visually powerful show is a steampunk reimagining of 1888 London and brings to life the hysteria, panic and fear created in the capital generated by the heinous crimes of the most notorious of all serial killers, Jack The Ripper, crimes so evil they are forever indelibly carved into history. The very name of Jack The Ripper still conjures trepidation and morbid curiosity, how a man could be so base yet elude capture in the midst of the densely populated streets of Whitechapel in the City of London. GRUeSOMe The Musical is the first full stage musical to be staged by Bruce Productions, a new and exciting organisation combining the talents, skills and experience of the Alan Bruce family along with the inspiration of close friends to provide a professional platform for local actors and musicians to perform both on the stage and in the recording studio. Apart from the world premiere production, a full- length film of GRUeSOMe The Musical is currently being edited and an original cast recording will be available shortly. Our new website covers every aspect of this new stage production which you can read about and view via the drop-down menu at the top of each page.
